Getting It Right

Posted: April 7th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: challenges | Tags: , | 23 Comments »

´And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon tree´

If I’ve learned something with age

It’s that life isn’t about getting

It right because the trials and

Tribulations are what make you grow

As I face my new challenges

I have the opportunity for change

I have some dreams to fulfill

I’d like to be in California

Near my parents and my sister

Living in a cute one-story home

A citrus tree in the yard

Light streaming through the abundant windows

A view of the hills somewhere

Within driving distance of the ocean

The smell of eucalyptus wafting through

My sunshine man will be there

And I’ll have a good job

And time to write my book

This may be a fantasy, but

I’ll say, it sure feels right.

I struggled a bit with Melissa’s topic of right this week.  Everything feels topsy turvy in my life now and it’s hard to know what the right step will be for us.  However, once I started writing, my inner vision of a new life came through, and everything felt right again.  Ah the power of writing!  It has the ability to take an unpleasant situation and make it feel like a thing of beauty.

If you are interested in the topic of right (as in I know that I am right, dammit!), check out my post “Do You Want to Be Right or Do You Want to Be Happy?”

Do you have any fantasies that make reality seem a little more palatable?  Do share…

Sounds right. Feels right. I love the picture. I hope you get it all-a girl can get her fantasy once in awhile.

Thanks, Ayala. Whether the fantasy comes true or not, the act of having it sure warms my heart. I like the picture too. I like the bright yellow lemon offering hope in contrast to the gray background.

I like the picture too, girls! And, I whole heartedly hope that you get your fantasy. It is a lovely little image! It would be a great place to be! Near family is always good.

Molly, great take on ‘right’. So many of my peers are going through transitions right now, myself included. ‘Right’ seems so damn elusive. But when we want ‘right’ all we really mean is peace, fulfillment, and happiness. I loved your post, I may just take another look @right and try another perspective of right for me :o) have a great weekend!

Thanks, LaQueshia. Check back later today or tomorrow because I am working on a prose piece about getting it right. As you make your current life decisions, remember that there is no one right way. You just make a decision and then make it right!

I loved hearing your dreams about CA, and especially your “sunshine man”. :) It made me smile because my middle son’s preschool teacher nicknamed him “Sunshine Boy” because he always shone with happiness.
Trials DO make us grow and change can be exciting. I love the fact that you are open and willing to embrace changes.
I’m a little late getting to the Six Word Fridays posts but so glad I didn’t miss yours. Loved it! xoxo

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Kristi. You are always so warm and kind. I can either dread change or embrace it. I’m choosing the latter. Who knows what kind of excitement is in store for me? xo

This post reminds me of the one you did with the photo of you in front of your childhood home. I hope you do get to California as you dream. If it feels right to be there, you’ll find a way.
